The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp hosted local Jacksonville media yesterday – well, except for us, the Jumbo Shrimp’s only fan blog. I guess our invite was lost in the mail – to introduce the 2023 edition of the team and to show off some of the new culinary treats that fans will be able to eat while watching the best team in Minor League Baseball.

While the full roster for the 2023 squad has not yet been released, the local media folks did good work getting some great photos of the team we will likely see when they open the season tomorrow night in Gwinnett. Take a look here, with photo credits going to, clockwise from top left – Heather Schatz, Alivia Tassely, Clayton Freeman, and Will Brown:

The Shrimp also introduced a number of very tasty looking items that you’ll get to enjoy from the concession stands at 121 Financial Ballpark this summer:
These types of events are always great. Players and coaches are relaxed and willing to chat a bit about the season ahead, stadium staff are putting the final touches on to get the ballpark to look perfect for Opening Day/Night, and the concessions folks are making sure that the food looks great to entice everyone to fork over their cash for inevitable late-night heartburn. It also means that real, live baseball is not far away.
As I noted above, the Shrimp open this season on the road this Friday at 7:05 pm against the Gwinnett Stripers. The boys return home for the Home Opener against the Durham Bulls on Tuesday, April 4. You can learn all about the opening home stand here: https://www.milb.com/jacksonville/news/2023-jumbo-shrimp-opening-week-homestand-highlights
Happy Opening Day to everyone. So great that we get another one tomorrow!
