A doubleheader is easily one of the best things in life, let alone baseball. Two games for the price of one ticket. Extra time to watch your favorite players and pack in as much game time as possible. And really, who doesn’t like more baseball?
The Jumbo Shrimp and Durham Bulls played two last night, and while we hoped the Shrimp would sweep, the teams ended up splitting the games. The Shrimp won 7-2 in the opener, while the Bulls shutout the Shrimp 6-0 in the nightcap.

Nick Neidert was solid through his five innings of work to pick up the win. Lewin Diaz launched an absolute bomb while going 2 for 4. Brian Miller had 4 – yes, 4 – stolen bases. You really don’t see that happen much anymore.

The Shrimp apparently failed to adhere to the old adage of “saving some runs for the second game.” The bats went cold. Even though they knocked out four hits, they couldn’t push across a run.
The clubs are back at it this evening at 6:35 pm. Let’s hope the Shrimp can get back into the win column.
I realize this is late on the east coast, but hey, it’s still morning where I am!
