Friday Musings

Another work week has flown by and now the staff of your favorite Jumbo Shrimp-flavored blog is busy drinking beer at Jacksonville’s King Maker Brewing Co. and coming up with new content for the blog, the Twitter feed, and the Instagram feed. Let me tell ya…it’s no easy task. But the beer makes everything better.

Most of you – well, the one or two folks who actually read the blog (thank you!) – will note that we’ve become lazy and haven’t written much of late. Work, family, and the odd journey out of Jax have limited us to some tweets and lots of re-tweets on Twitter. We hope you’ve enjoyed our musings there as much as we enjoy writing/sharing. As we approach the end of the first half of the Triple-A season, we *know* we should be doing better. So, we will. We will have more here to enjoy going forward. We totally promise.

One of the reasons we haven’t really done much with the blog this spring is that, well, the Jumbo Shrimp kinda stink. In the words of one good friend who shall remain nameless…”they are not a good team.” No…they are not. In fact, if it weren’t for Syracuse, Gwinnett, and Indy, the Shrimp would be the worst team in the International League. It’s dispiriting to watch a team you really like lose more often than not. Usually it’s due to pedestrian pitching performances or woeful bullpen arms. But not always…the offense has been less than effective at times as well. Thankfully, the parent club Miami Marlins are having an unexpectedly wonderful season so far and that goes a long way to forget how bad things have been for the Shrimp. Thankfully, the second half starts next week. Let’s hope our boys can wipe the slate clean and clean up in the second half.

That’s enough for today my friends. We will be back soon with more. Until then…Happy Baseball!
