At the start of last week, I was hopeful that the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp would roll into Durham and come away with a couple of wins at most. Little did I think that they would take four of six from the Bulls and look really, really good in doing so. So yeah, roadtrippin’ has certainly done the Shrimp some good.
Based on the successful week at the home of the defending International League Champions, the Shrimp have managed to escape the basement of the IL East standings and now sit in 7th place, four games behind the 1st place WooSox.

Let’s take a look at the Jumbo Shrimp results from last week, shall we?

After a win on Max Meyer Day (#MeyerDay), the Shrimp dropped the next two before roaring back to take the final three games of the series, all in rather emphatic fashion.
Erik Gonzalez, Lorenzo Quintana, and Peyton Burdick were the offensive leaders for the Shrimp last week. Gonzalez was especially hot, batting over .500 for the week. In my opinion, the key introduction for the week was putting Willians Astudillo into the lineup. The guy can flat out hit and, more importantly, he puts the ball in play. Yes, I know that there are plenty of younger guys that need to get into the lineup, but if you want to see more Jumbo Shrimp wins, Astudillo should feature regularly.
The Shrimp are back home this week to take on the Gwinnett Stripers, who just happen to have a special guest on their team for a rehab assignment:

Yep! Ronald Acuña Jr. will be playing in Jax all week long. So get out to 121 Financial Ballpark to support your Shrimp *and* see a superstar with your own eyes.
Let’s go Shrimp!
