It’s tough to overemphasize just how important Opening Day is to the many small & medium-sized cities that host Minor League Baseball. Years of tradition & civic pride all wrapped into one great celebration. I’ve been to many over the years. It’s just the best thing to see.
Opening Night in Jacksonville proved that it indeed is no exception to that rule. The evening was a celebration of baseball, the community, and a return to what makes our summers great. While the visiting Worcester Red Sox – the WooSox, if you prefer – secured a 6-5 victory, that didn’t diminish the enthusiasm of the crowd one bit.

Let’s hope that this is but the first of many entertaining games this season at 121 Financial Ballpark. Let’s Go Shrimp!
