Last night’s Jumbo Shrimp game was fun to watch. It really was. The Shrimp jumped out to an early lead, used solid pitching to keep Gwinnett in check, piled on a few more runs, and then held strong at the end to come away with a well-deserved 6-2 win. If only every game could go like this, right?
Unfortunately, baseball has a mind all its own, so we will just have to enjoy the goodness while we have it.
The Shrimp banged out 13 hits on the night, led by recent signing Justin Twine who had a triple and single in four trips to the plate. Twine also drove in two. Corey Bird had the Shrimp’s other triple, which he then turned into a Little League home run courtesy of a Gwinnett error. Brian Miller, Lewin Diaz, and Santiago Chavez also had two hits each for the Shrimp.
Luis Madero was fantastic on the mound for the Shrimp. He struck out seven and walked one over five innings to pick up his fourth win on the season. The relief corps held strong and snuffed out a potential Gwinnett rally in the seventh inning.
