Jumbo Shrimp Game 19: Shrimp Start Strong, But Falter At the End.

Usually a Baker’s Dozen means something good. Think doughnuts, or pastries, or muffins. Very good, right? However, when it comes to the number of runs scored by your opponent, then no, it’s pretty lousy. Durham did just that last night, scoring 13 unanswered runs after the fourth inning to win 13 – 5.

Final score – May 25, 2021

The Shrimp started out the game well enough scoring three runs in the second and two runs in the third, powered by Brian Navarreto‘s three run home run in the bottom of the second. After four complete innings, the score stood Jacksonville 5-0 to the good.

In the top of the fifth, the Durham offense came to life and, behind 19 hits, the Bulls scored 13 unanswered runs over the final five frames to win 13-5.

Every man in the Durham lineup tallied at least one hit during the game. All but one scored a run. It was an impressive performance. The loss to Durham on Tuesday marked only the second time all season that the Jumbo Shrimp have lost consecutive games.

The Bulls and Jumbo Shrimp are back at it on Wednesday evening starting at 7:05 PM at 121 Financial Ballpark.
