The Jumbo Shrimp broke out the bats for the Mother’s Day tilt against Norfolk Tides. The team racked up 15 hits on their way to a 9-7 win over the Norfolk Tides.

Eight of nine in Jacksonville’s lineup managed to get a hit on Sunday. The team was paced once again by Jesús Sánchez who remained white hot going 3 for 5. His batting average now stands at a gaudy .556. Sánchez also turned in a defensive gem throwing out a Norfolk runner at the plate.
Rylan Bannon led the way for Norfolk with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 RBIs.
The Jumbo Shrimp enjoy their first off day today and will be traveling to Durham for their next six-game set which starts tomorrow. The Jumbo Shrimp will be facing the number one overall prospect in baseball – Durham’s Wander Franco – so it should be a fun series.
The Jumbo Shrimp are expected to have Jazz Chisholm in the lineup for at least a few games as he rehabs his way back to the Marlins lineup.
After the first six games of the season, the Navy Town Showdown score is: Jax – 4, Norfolk – 2.
Oh, and since today is National Shrimp Day, we wish the best to our Jumbo Shrimp. Good luck in Durham!
