Life moves way too fast these days. We are on the go, all of the time. Schedules are jammed packed, there are more meetings now than ever before due to Zoom, mobile phones are seemingly a permanent attachment to our hands, and we all have kids that need all of our attention now, now, now! It can be too much. We need to slow down. We all need to enjoy the time we have before it’s gone.
Today’s picture falls right in line with that advice, coming straight from the legendary Satchel Paige. “Satchel’s Rules for the Good Life” has it all figured out for you. And hey, Satchel Paige pitched his final MLB game at 59(!!!) years old, so he might know a thing or two about good living.
This picture hangs inside the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. The museum is hands down one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. I first visited in 2011 (when this picture was taken) and liked it enough to go back multiple times. I even took my bachelor party to KC for BBQ, a Royals game, and a trip to the NLBM. Every one of my friends came away impressed. The museum is a must-see for any baseball fan, so I urge anyone who happens to read this article to make the journey. If you can’t go, please consider a donation to the museum and follow the NLBM and NLBM President Bob Kendrick (he’s amazing, btw) on social media.
