Without further ado, here’s The Catch’s 100% Guaranteed Accurate* National League predictions for the 2021 season:
NL East
- Atlanta Braves
- New York Mets
- Washington Nationals
- Miami Marlins
- Philadelphia Phillies
This division will, hands down, be the most competitive in all of Major League Baseball as all of the teams have improved in some fashion over the winter. The Braves are loaded offensively and if they get even decent pitching, they should win the division. The Mets also have the tools to win the division, but won’t quite get there. They will get the Wild Card. The Nationals will be close behind riding the bats of Soto and Turner. The Marlins are looking to make another playoff run, but their very young team must win the games in their division if they have any hope of making the playoffs. That’s going to be a challenge. The Phillies have Bryce Harper, Aaron Nola, and a load of young bats and arms. It is a shame that anyone has to be last in this division because they all have an outside chance to win if they stay healthy.
NL Central
- St. Louis Cardinals
- Milwaukee Brewers
- Chicago Cubs
- Cincinnati Reds
- Pittsburgh Pirates
The Cardinals will win this division. They have too many good bats, young arms, and veteran leaders to fail. The Brewers are going to be fun to watch and hopefully win go neck and neck with the Cards. If they stay healthy, they could get the second Wild Card. The Cubs still are trying to win with the nucleus of the 2016 Champs. They won’t. The Reds will be ok, but will regress. The Pirates will be enjoying the Ke’Bryan Hayes show. That’s about it.
NL West
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- San Diego Padres
- Arizona Diamondbacks
- San Francisco Giants
- Colorado Rockies
The Dodgers will be the best team in baseball and win more than 100 games. They will win this division. The Padres made so many impressive acquisitions over the winter that they would be a challenger for any other division in baseball. But they will only get the Wild Card, and even then they will be in a race to the end. Arizona and San Francisco will be mid-table teams. Colorado will be mourning the loss of Arenado all season and not do much at all.
Playoffs – The Dodgers will defeat the Cardinals for the NL Crown. The Dodgers will then defeat the White Sox to be repeat World Series Champions.
